U.S. Markets Mixed At Close; Dow Jones Down 0.73%

Forexpros – U.S. stocks were mixed after the closing bell on Tuesday.
At the close of U.S. trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.73%, the S&P 500 index shed 0.41%, while the Nasdaq 100 index climbed 0.22%.
Earlier in the day, official data showed that new home sales in the U.S. fell unexpectedly to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 312K last month from 315K in the preceding month whose figure was revised down from 319K.
Analysts had expected new home sales to rise to 320K last month.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, European stock markets were mixed at close. France’s CAC 40 was down 0.66%; Germany’s DAX gained 0.07%; Britain’s FTSE 100 climbed 0.08%; and the EURO STOXX 50 fell 0.11%.
