100 Ways to Save Money–#11: Buy a Freezer
Written on February 9, 2011 by Julia Woodard
This one is especially important for families. This idea saves both time and money.
A freezer not only pays for itself but much more than its value over time. When you go to the supermarket to buy something, you may see something on special that you don’t need now or this week but you know you’ll need it eventually. You come back the next week when you do need it and the price has gone back up.
This happens frequently. And this is where a freezer comes in handy. Everytime you go to the grocery store, you can simply buy whatever is on sale that day, get extra if you can and freeze it.
Most people go about buying groceries in the opposite way–they buy what they need that day or week even if it isn’t discounted. You will basically be reversing that trend and only buying when something is on special.
A freezer is basically one giant coupon–that’s how we should look at it. You’ll save a boatload on groceries over time.
